Zijie Sha

Zijie is a third-year PhD student in the Fuel Cell Materials group. He developed an interest in solid-state (ceramic) science during his MEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering completed at Imperial College London. His master’s research project on thermographic phosphors for accurate temperature profiling was awarded the David West prize. For his PhD, Zijie is researching the effect of humidity on the diffusion and surface exchange of materials used for fuel cells and oxygen transport membranes. His project is carried out in collaboration with Japanese universities under the SOIFIT programme. In his spare time, Zijie is a professional-level pianist and enjoys promoting sci-fi in China, working with organisations such as the BBC and Penguin Random House.
