Dario is a 1st year PhD student and his research involves SOFC cathode material made and invented by Ceres Power. It is a type of ceramic material (inner transition metal oxide) which was shown to have a good performance in the SOFCs. Various experimental techniques ,common in materials science, will give a better insight into its structure, electrochemical properties and the relationship between the two. These include: XRD, isotopic exchange depth profiling coupled with SIMS, impedance spectroscopy, atom probe tomography and XPS. Other types of ceramics ,which resemble the Ceres material in terms of their structure and properties, will be synthesized and their performance will be compared to it.
