Yidong started his PhD programme supervised by Prof. Stephen Skinner since October 2020 after the graduation from Imperial College London with MSc degree. For his master project, he used Bond Valence Sum (BVS) to study the structural properties of rare earth orthoniobates (ReNbO4) solid solution series. Now he will continue his study on the development of new niobate oxide ion/proton conductors. His interests will focus on the structure of a range of compositions and using simulations where appropriate to explain the findings, for instance, the ion transport mechanisms.

Before he came to London, he obtained his bachelor’s degree at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2019.
